Chocolate for China, pharmaceuticals for the United States and India, what’s next?  

Apart from all the standard services ABC European Air and Sea Cargo Distribution also offers reliable Reefer services, which are needed not only for standard foodstuff such as fruit, vegetables and meat. The only thing that all temperature controlled shipments have in common is ...well, that they hardly ever have anything in common. Each single one has special characteristics of its own, which makes handling them both challenging and interesting at the same time. Let’s state some examples:   On the sixth of August, 2009 a shipping not to be seen every day was processed by the ABC offices in Eindhoven, Netherlands and Pruszkow, Poland.  

Chocolate were to be flown Shenzhen, twenty tons of chocolate, to be exact. The ABC employees'' expertise regarding reefer services was challenged when dealing with this temperature sensitive merchandise (12-18 degrees Celsius), especially since it took place in the usually warm month of August.  

The 46 cubic meters of cargo were picked up with a temperature controlled truck in Pruszkow and flawless just-in-time delivery was done at the airport, from where the 46 pallets of sweet cargo were flown to their airport of destination, covered in thermo blankets. Insurance was arranged by us too.  

A shipment maybe even more interesting, not only because of its higher value was the following: One hundred boxes of pharmaceuticals were to be sent door-to-door from Graz, Austria to Boston, USA, kept at a steady temperature range of +15°C - +25°C. According to our slogan, we consolidated a solution capable of really simplifying our customer’s business. Everything connected to the shipment was taken care of by ABC, including things like appropriate packaging material and temperature monitoring devices and organization of the shortest possible transit time (pick up of shipment on Friday in Graz and delivery to customer in Boston Monday afternoon).
Even more specialized equipment and know-how were needed for another shipment of pharmaceuticals from Vienna, Austria to New Delhi, India. In order to keep it at a solid +2°C - +8°C active cooling packaging (Envirotainer RAP t2 and RKN t2) was used. Although the cargo itself was prepared by the shipper, most of the work was to be done by ABC`s specialists. Every aspect of the supply chain was planned and counter-checked in terms of feasibility. All paperwork was done with utmost caution and precision in order to prevent delays (e.g. Caused by customs procedures) Returning the empty containers to the airline superfast saved lease costs, pro-active monitoring of the shipment ensured a continuous flow of information to all parties involved.
