Ist IIR Conference on Sustainability and the Cold Chain
The Conference Theme
The UK is proud to host the first international conference on the cold chain. The conference, which will attract an international audience of researchers and industrialists, will bring together those with an interest in the cold chain, covering food, pharmaceuticals and other applications to explore the latest developments and key trends in technology. The Conference will be supported by relevant IIR commissions (details to be advised) and will incorporate Commissions B1, B2, C2, D1 and D2 and Working Group meetings.
The second element of the Cambridge Conference will focus on Sustainability, and will run as a parallel programme over the same dates. This conference will be hosted in association with SIRAC the Sustainability in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning network which was set up in the UK in 2008 to drive the research agenda on sustainability for our sector.
Programme Design
The programme will include approximately 90 papers presented over a full two days timetable. In addition there will be a pre-registration reception on the evening before the conference (29th March), a conference dinner on day 1 (30th March) and a choice of technical site visits and short courses relating to both themes on day 2 (31st March).
Short courses will be offered as 2.5hr workshops with the following themes: Mathematical modeling, temperature control methods, energy and the cold chain, energy and sustainability in manufacturing and a review of alternative technologies.
Technical tours will include a cold store, retail environment, a transport equipment manufacturer and a testing facility.
Delegate fees
Fees will include the two days of conference proceedings and tours, a cd of all conference papers, one evening reception, a conference dinner and two nights accommodation. There will be an early booking discount and a reduce price for members of the IOR, IIR or those who present papers. The early discount fee is available until 31st January - see details here
Sponsorship
Sponsorship packages are available for companies who wish to raise their profile in this sector and take advantage of the international exposure this event will attract. Packages range from £100 to £5000. More details.

About the International Institute of Refrigeration
The International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR), is an intergovernmental organization comprising over 60 countries, is a forum for exchange of scientific and industrial know-how, thus promoting in companies, laboratories and organizations, progress and expansion of knowledge on refrigeration, air-conditioning, heat-pump and cryogenic technology and its use. The IIR's scientific and technical activities take place within ten commissions corresponding to the different areas of refrigeration and its various applications.
